While most Freeview digital channels are currently in operation, they are not without their share of "black spots", such as Halifax where the digital signals are reported not to reach many households. It is therefore expected that the Freeview digital service will be improved significantly in the region once the changes are effected and all analogue stations are switched off completely.

If you currently get your TV signals via a Freeview box or through an external TV aerial, you will have to re-tune your TV set both on the 7th and 21st of September. Those on cable or satellite however will not need to re-tune their TV sets since the digital signals are already coming through.
