On the positive side of things, I will discuss television's benefits. One of the greatest advantages someone can attain is knowledge. This is a huge quality in a television because people can grow in facts, information, and other valuable concepts that have to due with our society. So, one hue benefit to TV is the knowledge you can receive from it.
Aspiring excessive amounts of knowledge can be a bad thing, too. When devoting and giving all of your attention to something, you may be subject to believing things easily. Bringing TV into this scenario now, when all of your attention is drawn specifically to the television, and only that, you are susceptible to believing a lie. This is one reason you must be careful with what you watch. Not everything said on the TV is true.
Watching too much TV can get you into a habit of doing so. You might be thinking, "what is wrong with that?" Well, there is a lot! Allowing your eyes to settle on the TV for long amounts of time can do them damage. Turning the brightness of the television down can help prevent as much damage. Especially if you are in a dark room. Also, do not sit too close to the screen If you must, like stated before, turn the brightness down.
The TV is the biggest form of advertisement. Hundreds of businesses would love to have "five minutes of fame" by broadcasting their product through a commercial. Commercials spread all over the world in a matter of a few minutes. The technology is so great and so fast, that it is almost unbelievable.
This next paragraph is for those of you who have children. TV is a great thing to rely on if you need some time to yourself. Children can get fixed on a TV show pretty easily. The question is... Is this bad for them? The answer is mostly no. But, you must be careful with what you allow them to watch. Kids pick up easily on things characters say on the television. Most of the time, you will hear children repeat what they have heard. This is why you must take precautions. TV shows like Dora The Explorer or Handy Manny are excellent choices. Not only do they keep the child pre-occupied while you get some things done, but they have educated value. If the child picks up on anything, it is something that will benefit him or her!
The television is a wonderful creation. It is one of the many things provide enjoyment each day. While continuing to be grateful, and thankful for the existence of it, don't overdue your time watching it!
